OUR FARM

OUR STORY

The Sargent family immigrated to Canada in the late 1800’s and settled in South Central Ontario. Originally farmers from Ireland, we came to Canada with the hope of building a better life. Our ancestors started a farmstead along the Otonabee River, in Peterborough County. Richard Sargent Sr. began farming Jerseys in the early 1900’s and handed the farm down to his son Carl, who passed on the love of Jerseys to his son Tim. The farm is currently run by Tim & Sharyn Sargent and their children Daniel, Melyssa and Benjamin.

OUR DAIRY

Our on-farm dairy processing facility creates fresh milk and cheeses from our families farm. The quality of our milk and our products is of the utmost importance to us.

Milk arrives fresh from the dairy barn in our receiving tank before being piped into the food safe processing room to be pasteurized, packaged and stored before immediate delivery.

Want to learn more about where your food comes from? Our facility has a viewing window in its store, so you can watch the whole process.

OUR TEAM

Tim & Sharyn

The BossEs

Tim has been dairy farming full time since he received his diploma from the University of Guelph, but don’t ask him what year that was...

Together with his wife Sharyn, the pair have raised two girls and three boys on their farm. They have instilled the passion for farming and Jersey cows in all their children. Tim enjoys preparing feed for the milking herd and heifer cows on the farm every day.

When you visit the farm store, you will be greeted by Sharyn’s smiling face.

Bruce

sIbling

Bruce is a graduate of the University of Guelph School of Commerce in Marketing Management.

He has spent 10 years working across Canada in Agricultural Communications.

He returns home to help on the farm with chores, planting crops, bailing hay & harvest feed for the Winter.

Melyssa

Operations Manager

Melyssa originally wanted to follow her mother Sharyn’s footsteps and become a nurse. After many years of working on the farm and showing cows in 4-H with her family, she came home to the family farm after graduating OTA/PTA and spending time in the United States working with elite show cows.

Melyssa is in charge of operations at the dairy. Which includes every stage the milk goes through, once it leaves the farm until ending up on the shelf. while also helping wherever needed on the farm.

Daniel

Field Expert

Daniel has planned to be a farmer since he could first walk and talk about it.  He completed his education through the Dairy Herdsman Apprenticeship Program offered by Kemptville.

Daniel is our crops and feed expert; he draws from experience working for many neighbouring farms as a fill in for milking, as well as helping with crop planting and harvest.

On our farm he fills many job roles including our equipment fix-it guy for the farm and dairy.

BenJamin

Cow Expert

Benjamin grew up circling the cows on a mini pedal tractor during milking before he was tall enough to do it himself.

He studied Dairy Business at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, where he graduated in the class of 2020 and came home to bring his cow care and nutrition knowledge back to Enniskillen.

Ben is interested in working with our cows and making improvements to our farm practices to improve their health and happiness

Stephynie

Sibling

Dr. Stephynie is an Optometrist, working in Bowmanville and Courtice since 2016 when she graduated from the New England College of Optometry

She never wanted to stray far from her farming roots and even keeps a few farm animal toys (including brown cows) in her exam room to have fun with kids during their eye exams. Visits to the farm on weekends are very frequent for her.

Whether helping in the dairy store, the farms garden, or delivering groceries / take out to the farm crew, Stephynie support is always appreciated.
